Velafrica x Caran D'Ache, a campaign for Bike2School Velafrica

Problem Statement: Velafrica needs roughly 800’000 Swiss Francs for a program with 6’000 bike-to-school bikes in Tanzania (roughly 130 CHF / bike). How can Velafrica find a sponsor?

Background: Velafrica is an innovative organization collecting bicycles in Switzerland and sending them to Africa along an innovative value chain. https://velafrica.ch/en/ The Bike2School4Girls Program is a specific initiative, which is embedded in a larger strategic approach of Velafrica. Velafrica is pursuing a holistic approach toward a long-term and durable access to bicycles and maintenance services in order to mobilize people in general and students in particular, in Sub Sahara Africa.

Methodology: Customer Journey Mapping, Persona Creation, Focus Group, Trend Analysis, Brand-Driven Innovation Framework, Service Design Blueprinting, Value Mapping, Perceptual Mapping, Written Scenario, Video Visualisation, Semi-structured Interviews, Focus Groups, Experience Design.

Outcome: We looked at classic corporate CSR models and found value in associating Caran d’Ache’s products with the impact story of “fostering safe mobility for schoolgirls in Tanzania''. A product-based sponsorship is a proposed scenario for a campaign period where a small amount will be sponsored to the “bike to school” programme from the Caran d’Ache line of products. Proposals to Carna D'Ache resulted in a collobarative effort to bring funds to the Bike2School Programme.
