Rethinking EV charging stations in Berlin for Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz.
Problem Statement: How can the BMWK promote Electric Vehicles in Berlin.?
Background: Combating climate change, new markets, less dependence on fossil fuels: mobility will be rethought in future. The development of electric mobility is a major forward-looking issue for German industry. In fact, electric vehicles can become a key element of the energy transition. Electric mobility is the key to climate-friendly mobility all around the world. Particularly when operated using renewables-based electricity, electric vehicles generate much less CO2. Also, electric vehicles can store energy and will be able to offset fluctuations in wind and solar power, thus fostering the expansion and market integration of these volatile energy sources.
Methodology: System Mapping, Service Ecology mapping, User Ethnography, AEIOU Framework, Service Design, Customer Journey Mapping, Concept Development, Semi-structured Interviews, VRIO Analysis, Facilitated Brainstorming,
Outcome: With the rise of EVs, the pre-existing streets and their infrastructure, the lamp posts and parking lots can be utilised to charge, parking and provide safe WLAN services simultaneously. The community need not spend money on the installation of private charging facilities. In the streets of Berlin, we witnessed firsthand the lack of infrastructure for EV charging and realised a lot of the existing infrastructure can be reutilised and imbibed with newer technology and function in all existing urban areas.
